At BoarderLabs, collaboration isn’t just about slapping two logos on a deck — it’s about storytelling, culture, and progression. Over the years, the shop has become a magnet for creative partnerships that bring together skateboarding history, pop culture, and modern design. From surfskate crossovers to collectible hype drops, each collaboration that has rolled through our doors has left a lasting mark on both our community and the broader skate world.
MADRID X CARVER
One of the most forward-thinking and nostalgic collaborations was the CalStreets Surf Skate City x Madrid x Carver project. Launched in early 2025, this three-way mashup brought back Madrid’s legendary 1980s shapes, including the Mike Smith Gorilla, Ken Park, Claus Grabke, and John Lucero decks — all recreated from original molds. But instead of just resting on vintage charm, these reissues got the full surfskate treatment with Carver CX trucks and Roundhouse wheels, built for speed, snap, and carving flow. The kicker? Glow-in-the-dark graphics that lit up under night sessions and skatepark floodlights, paying homage to that classic SoCal night skating energy while elevating the boards for modern riders.
POKEMON X SANTA CRUZ
Another head-turning moment came with the Pokémon x Santa Cruz collaboration. This drop was less about skating and more about causing total collector chaos — and we loved it. The blind-bag mystery deck series included twenty graphic variants featuring Pokémon like Gengar, Mew, and Pikachu, each one foil-wrapped like a booster pack. But the crown jewel?
Five ultra-limited gold foil decks (Charizard, Mimikyu, Gyarados, Eevee, and Gengar) with only 50 of each in existence worldwide. Demand was insane. Even with strict one-deck-per-customer rules at BoarderLabs, the shop sold out almost instantly. It wasn’t just a deck drop — it was a cultural event that blurred the line between trading cards and skateboards.
THRASHER MAG X SANTA CRUZ
Santa Cruz continued its hot streak by linking with Thrasher Magazine for a gritty, skate-pure collaboration that brought back two classic shapes: the Winkowski and Salba Oops reissues. These decks weren’t designed to sit on your wall — though they looked amazing up there — they were made to skate. Built with classic North American maple and dripping in ‘zine-style artwork, these boards honored two decades of skateboarding’s underground spirit. Thrasher’s raw attitude mixed with Santa Cruz’s heritage made for a perfect storm of function and flavor.
STAR WARS X ELEMENT
Then came Element’s bold crossover with Star Wars: The Mandalorian — a collaboration that might’ve seemed out of left field, but hit hard with riders and collectors alike. This drop wasn’t just about branding. The deck designs captured the dusty, sci-fi grit of the Mandalorian universe and translated it into skate hardware that actually rides. For fans of both the galaxy far, far away and a clean frontside slide, this was the best of both worlds. The series added new dimension to how pop culture can live and breathe in skateboarding without feeling forced.
THE FUTURE
What ties all these collaborations together is intention. BoarderLabs doesn’t just stock collabs — it curates them. Each release is handpicked to offer something beyond hype: a sense of place, a spark of nostalgia, a twist of innovation. These aren’t one-off novelties. They’re stories told through grip, wood, urethane, and ink.
And this is only the beginning. As the future of skateboarding bends into electric, digital, and collectible spaces, you can bet BoarderLabs will stay at the forefront — hunting down the next weird, wild, or world-class collaboration that pushes things forward while honoring the culture that made it all roll.
