POWELL PERALTA CHRIS HIETT SKULL DECK 9.5″ X 31.13″ GREEN

$148.95

Chris Hiett’s first pro model for Powell-Peralta is more than just a skateboard—it’s a statement. Vernon Courtlandt Johnson’s art shows a skeleton exploding from a jack-in-the-box, a raw metaphor for breaking free and embracing individuality. The design gained unexpected depth when VCJ suffered a heart attack mid-process, making the heart-centered imagery a reflection of both fragility and strength.

This maple edition is pressed from 7-ply hard rock maple for that classic pop and feel riders have trusted for decades. Sized at 9.5″ wide, 31.13″ long, with a 14.63″ wheelbase, 5.5″ nose, and 6.8″ tail, it delivers a solid, balanced platform with responsive K26 concave for control. Powell-Peralta’s AirLam construction ensures strength and consistency, while non-solvent inks bring VCJ’s art to life with foil and fluorescent hits. Each deck carries subtle visual variations—handle with care, avoid UV exposure, and skate or collect with confidence.

Designed by Vernon Courtlandt Johnson, the artwork shows a skeleton bursting from a jack-in-the-box, a metaphor for breaking free and owning individuality. Midway through creating this piece, VCJ suffered a heart attack, giving the heart-driven imagery a deeper, visceral weight—a reflection of both fragility and resilience.

This version of Chris’s deck comes pressed from traditional 7-ply hard rock maple, delivering the classic feel riders have trusted for decades. With a 9.5″ width, 31.13″ length, and a 14.63″ wheelbase, paired with a 5.5″ nose and 6.8″ tail, it offers a stable platform for power skating while still keeping responsive control underfoot. The K26 concave locks you in, while Powell-Peralta’s USA construction and AirLam bonding process ensure durability ride after ride.

Graphics are printed in-house with non-solvent inks, featuring foil and fluorescent hits that bring VCJ’s art to life. Each board may show slight visual variations due to the unique ink process. Collectors should handle with care and avoid UV exposure to preserve the art for the long run.

Skate legend George Powell drops by CalStreets to catchup on some 80's stories. Illya, Graham, Rick Tetz and George Powell. Holding Andy Anderson Deck.Powell Dealer Canada Vancouver CalStreetsGeorge Powell dropped by CalStreets Skateshop in Vancouver—one of Powell's earliest Canadian distributors—for a throwback hangout with Rick Tetz, Illya, and Graham. Surrounded by 80s memorabilia and fresh Powell gear, George shared untold stories from the golden age of skateboarding, posing proudly with an Andy Anderson deck, symbolizing the bridge between skateboarding’s roots and its future.

Whether you're reliving the Bones Brigade era or discovering Powell for the first time, you're not just buying a deck—you're owning a piece of skateboarding history.

Born in 1978 from the brilliant minds of George Powell and Stacy Peralta, Powell Peralta didn’t just make skateboards—they built the very foundation of modern skate culture. And then they supercharged it with the Bones Brigade, an all-star lineup that ruled the streets, pools, and vert ramps of the 1980s. We’re talking Tony Hawk, Rodney Mullen, Steve Caballero… the original dream team.

By the early ’90s, Stacy moved on, but George kept the wheels rolling, evolving Powell into a powerhouse with Powell Skateboards, Bones Bearings, and RollerBones—names that are still the gold standard for speed, strength, and style.

Fun fact for Canadian skaters: CalStreets / CSI was Powell’s second-ever distributor in Canada, right after Northwest Skateboards. That means we’ve been hooking up Canadian rippers with the good stuff since the early days.

From the iconic Ripper graphic to cutting-edge urethane formulas, Powell isn’t just a brand—it’s a living, rolling piece of skate history. Whether you’re an OG vert dog or a street tech wizard, Powell Peralta is the kind of gear you pass down like family treasure. Ride it. Break it. Love it. Pass it on.
