After a six-year run with Cab’s earlier graphic, Powell Peralta changed things up in 1986 right around the filming of The Search for Animal Chin. The result was the now-legendary Cab Chinese Dragon graphic — inspired by a Chinese takeout box and brought to life by the unmistakable hand of Vernon Courtlandt Johnson.
The Bones Brigade was the legendary Powell Peralta skate team that helped define modern skateboarding in the 1980s, bringing together icons like Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero, Rodney Mullen, Lance Mountain, Mike McGill, and Tommy Guerrero. Backed by George Powell’s innovative board designs and Stacy Peralta’s groundbreaking videos, Powell Peralta turned skateboarding into a full-blown cultural movement, blending progression, personality, graphics, and attitude into one of the most influential eras in skate history.
This reissue brings the graphic back on Cab’s classic “fish” shape, loaded with that old-school Powell attitude: wide, bold, powerful, and impossible to ignore. The bottom graphic features screenprinted ink over foil, giving the dragon that metallic flash that makes the whole deck feel like it belongs behind glass, under lights, or straight in the hands of someone who knows exactly what they’re looking at.
The top side is no afterthought either. It features a blue dyed veneer with a hand-printed red top logo, giving each deck its own one-of-a-kind character. Natural wood grain, dyed veneer variation, and the foil process mean no two are exactly alike — and honestly, that is part of the charm. This is not some flat, lifeless wall-hanger.
