World Industries wasn’t built on safe graphics or polite nods—and Jesse Martinez never fit the safe mold either.
The Mess deck is pure Rocco-era chaos pressed into maple: cartoon fists controlling the strings of a battle-damaged puppet, bold color pops, and that unmistakable “you are here” punchline. It’s World at its most confrontational, thumbing its nose at the industry while giving the Venice original his own graphic that he famously couldn’t stand.
As Rocco himself said: “The truth will set you free, but first it will really piss you off!” Jesse hated this board when it first dropped—and he probably still hates it. The only way to change his mind back then was with a royalty check. That’s the kind of raw honesty that defined World: no sugar-coating, just skateboarding’s ugliest and funniest truths hung out in the open.
This reissue brings it back full force on a 10.126″ x 31″ shape with a 14.0″ wheelbase. The width and shape scream stability—ideal for pool coping, downhill charges, or just keeping your feet locked in while you throw your own haymakers on the streets.
The taper through the nose and squared tail give it that classic late-80s/early-90s World vibe, while the graphic reminds you exactly why this company left the old guard fuming.
It’s not just a deck—it’s a time capsule of Venice grit and Rocco’s “burn the rulebook” philosophy. Ride it, hang it, argue about it—just don’t expect it to play nice.
World Industries. Rocco. Jesse. The Mess. Enough said.
