MPI Old School

MPI Skateboards – 1970s Roots

MPI was one of the underground brands turning out fiberglass and laminated decks in the 1970s, right when skateboarding was exploding from a surf-inspired fad into its own culture. Their boards captured that transitional moment between clay wheels and steel trucks into the urethane boom, when everything suddenly got faster, smoother, and gnarlier.

The MPI Kick Tail Minis and cruisers are considered collectible today, not just because of how rare they are, but because they represent the gritty experimental era when skateboarding was still figuring itself out. For riders, these boards delivered speed and flex that wood couldn’t match in their time. For collectors, they’re pure time capsules of skate culture on the edge of invention.
