BUSTIN, boards canada

Bustin Boards is a grassroots longboard company designed by skaters and run by skaters. Since 2001, their mission has been to develop the most advanced longboards and skateboards on the planet and offer friendly, personal service through their website and their two NYC longboard stores. Their community there in New York is made up of skaters and longboarders who are passionate about enjoying life and evolving longboarding and skateboarding. Wherever you skate, we hope you feel the vibe and enjoy the ride. They have a huge lineup of boards for you to choose from, and to match yourĀ  style of skate, whether it’s Downhill, Freeride, Dancing, TechSliding, or rocking a park/bowl they have a board for you! Check them out and find which ones right for you.

Bustin Dime
Everyone needs a mini in their quiver for those times when you want some wheels but don’t want to carry a heavy load. The Bustin Dime is here to help you in those times of need. Equipped with the same 3D wheel well tech that they put into their Yoface lineup, the Dime is a simple, single kick cruiser shape with foot references and a killer pocket, allowing you to keep your eyes on where you’re going and not down at the board. Aggressive enough to thrash down a hill, if you’re looking to add a little spice in your life, and agile enough to weave in and out of pedestrian traffic on the sidewalk, this board delivers on its simple promises. Here now, there later. You can be sure the time in between is going to be a ton of fun on this little package.

YoFace 39″Bustin YoFace 39''Designed as the ultimate do-it-all deck, the 19-21 inch wheelbase will line up your wheels into the 3-dimensional wheel wells no matter what trucks you’re riding, for whatever purpose. As a street kicktail deck set up with Indy geometry, this deck pops big ollies with style and provides ample landing space when landing more technical tricks. The curves lock you in tight on big slides, while the concave is relatively gentle on the feet for all day riding. It’s big, it’s forgiving, and it’s Bruno Sirera’s pro model, ready to do literally anything you (or he) can think of, and that’s saying a lot.

YoFace 35″Bustin YoFace 37''The original double kicktail longboard Yoface design has gone through a micro-overhaul, with a little more attention to detail aesthetically and a year’s worth of experience put into the shape to function how our team riders need it to. The tail shapes have been modified into a more classic popsicle shape for popping more technical tricks with ease. This kicktail board excels as a bowl and ramp rider and tech slider, and it doubles as a more technical board for large riders or people who just like big decks. Plenty of wheel clearance, pop, and board feel provided by the endless curves. The OG is still a favorite among many.

Yoface 32″Bustin YoFace 35''Slightly shorter and fatter than your classic popsicle, this is an excellent deck for technical tricking at the park and street and kills it on the ramp as well. The 3D wheel wells provide extra clearance for larger wheels and excellent board feel for setting up more technical tricks with ease. The board has more pop than any 8.5 you’ve ever seen, and it will be an easy switch for technical skaters as a more forgiving and awesomely strong all-wood trick board. It is our first official popsicle deck, approved and applauded by skaters who know how to put it to the test, and we are damn proud of it.

Mini MaestroBustin Maestro MiniThe Maestro Mini got a major overhaul for 2013 but still retains its stashable steez. As a compact, low, lightweight, versatile shape, this deck has been one of our most popular since it first came out. Our redesign is primarily centered around strength with increased versatility as the main goal. Larger kicks make this deck super poppable, while an increased concave at the neck provides micro wheel flares as locators and a ton more strength, which was needed when we gave you all that extra leverage over the tail. 8-ply design makes this deck stiff, while the low profile shape keeps it lightweight. This will be a favorite among urban commuters, freestylers, hallway rampagers, and micro-thrashers.

Maestro
The classic Maestro is staying classy. 8-Ply design provides a mild flex. The rails have been squared off to provide a little more feedback during slides, and every detail has been combed over to create the most aesthetically pleasing design possible. Still incredibly low for easy pushing, still forward cambered for a lively push, still wedged truck mounts for an incredibly nimble ride. Dyed veneers, refined shape, and a new graphic make this the most awesome all-wood Maestro longboards to date!

Maestro Pro
The fiberglass Maestro has been a huge hit for us with all the freestyle riders out there, but we’ve heard the murmurs from our customers asking for a symmetrical design, and we weren’t just going to stop there. We’ve upped our game over the past couple years, gobbling up all the knowledge we could on what can be done with wood and composites. This deck is a culmination of that knowledge, with every curve designed to provide even flex, strength, form, and function. Gentle center camber, rocker in the foot platform, flares by the cutouts, radial tail, and multiple concaves make this the strongest and most functional flexy freeride, freestyle, and commuter deck out there. If you like flexy boards this could be the best board you’ll ever step foot on. We carefully engineered the mold to generate flex while pushing and stiffen the board up while locked into the foot pockets. This means the board will have a relatively consistent flex for a wide range of rider weights but can bottom out during big tricks. If you’ve ridden our 7ply Maestro longboard, you’ll feel that the flex during push is similar but notice that the board feels much stiffer after your feet move into both foot pockets. We designed the board with multiple wheelbase options so that you can increase or decrease flex slightly based on your preference.

Modela
Skating Everything” is something we’ve all been hearing a lot lately. In a place with such with such diverse skate terrain as New York City, this is a vibe we cannot ignore, and as such, we are bound by skate-law to build skateboards with all-around skateboarding in mind. The Modela is just that. Part city shredder, part trickster, part surfy carver/cruiser, and part hill slashin’ freeride machine, the Modela can do it all. And do it well. Cut from the same fine (wooden) cloth as the Yoface39, the Modela blends more of a surf-friendly shape into the same shred-worthy 3D mold, allowing for tons of wheel clearance to get your carve on, a poppy radial tail, and a foot-friendly, aggressive pocket between the 3D wheel wells and tail for slashing quick slides on the sidewalks and back alleys.

The deck sports a tight, slashy wheelbase of 19 and 20.5 inches. The mounting holes are designed to guide the wheels on both traditional style trucks and reverse kingpin trucks right into the wheel wells, which are cut large and deep to allow for tight carves with little risk of wheelbite. The wheelbase excels in low to mid-speeds, depending on rider comfort but will tackle any hill with the right set of skills. Rails are lightly sanded to provide the perfect combination of grip, comfort, and durability. The 7-ply Canadian Maple layup is lightweight, while the through-concave tail and increased concave in the wheel wells protect the board from flexing where the board would be most susceptible to failure. The lighter weight makes this board ver easy to ollie, even with reverse kingpin style trucks. Most riders will notice zero flex on the deck, while riders over 160 lbs may notice a tiny bit of “forgiveness” when landing big tricks when not landing on the bolts. 200+ pound riders may feel a little flex toward the center when pushing. Overall, expect the board to the be able to handle abuse, just like our Yoface lineup. The curves are strong and we use only the highest quality wood and glue to make each board

Mission 40″
The Bustin Mission is a drop through, flexy cruiser that will comfortably take you where you want to go. Easy on the eyes, on the feet, and on the wallet, this is the board of choice for chill riders going for chill rides. The flex on this board will smooth out the bumpiest of roads, the concave is comfy for all day riding, and the micro nose and tail is great on the commute once you have reached your destination. Grab and go, Mission complete

Cigar 38″
A classic length for a comfy cruise. The Cigar 38 features a soft flex with adjustable wheelbases from 30 to 30 3/4 inches–just enough to soften or stiffen the flex a touch. The hole mount pattern will fit old school and new school mounting. The shape takes the form of a classic pintail functionally, with a more compact nose and tail for a more commuter friendly design. This deck is just plain fun to ride. For beginners and more advanced riders alike as an everyday cruiser.

Cigar 31″
A comfortable mini with ample footspace and classic styling, the Cigar 31 is a ton of fun packed into a simple, affordable design that will take you where you want to go and then pack away nicely in a locker, under a desk, or just under your arm. Multiple truck patterns work for new and old school mounting. CNC’ed wheel wells provide ample wheel clearance. This deck makes an excellent daily commuter and pedestrian slalom board.

Bustin Sporter 36″
Our most popular shredder; Now available in a brand new Red Dip – The drop-through design combined with our new RDR mold (radial micro-drops and rocker throughout the standing platform) give this deck a low down, high response, super controlled ride unlike any other board to date. The ultra-mild dampening flex provided by the rockered shape and hip notches make this deck comfortable on smooth or rough terrain and the forked nose design allow it to pack a huge engine into a tight 36″ frame while still maintaining a full 30″ wheelbase. Part of what makes this longboard so special is the commutability and we really wanted to highlight that aspect of it. In addition to the lowered platform, we shaved out 1/2″ notches in the middle to add just an ever so slight flex into the mix to soften the ride and provide a little more liveliness as an everyday commuter. Flex will be noticed when standing in the center of the deck while pushing, but when locked in on the standing platform, the deck is solid and stable. Once in freeride position, riders will notice a comfortable but powerful concave combined with rocker and radial drops that lock feet in like bindings on a snowboard. All of this combined makes initiating slides effortless, and you can be assured that your feet will stay in place as long as you’re going sideways.

Bustin Sporter ProBustin Sportster ProThe Sportster Pro 39 takes everything that we love about the original all wood Sportster and adds in the benefits of weatherproof fiberglass construction and a small nose and tail for kicking up the board when needed and protecting your expensive trucks. The board has a slight to moderate dampening flex but is stiffer than the original wood Sportster. Flex will be noticeable when pushing around town while positioning the foot in the middle of the deck and will be very slight when in freeride stance with feet placed near the drops, making the deck excellent for sliding and comfortable at speed. This deck is ideal for riders under 180 pounds who want an extremely durable pusher/slider who will dabble in some downhill also. Heavier riders will still be comfortable pushing and sliding but may desire more stiffness at high speeds and should look to decks like our Ibach, EQ, Ratmobile, or Mekanik. If you’re going to own one deck and one deck only, the Sportster Pro will handle anything and everything you throw at it and will last for years.

EQBustin EQThe Bustin EQ and its cousin, the Boombox, are the latest additions to the 2012 Bustin Boards lineup.. The EQ is designed as the ultimate foot locking freeride experience. The board maximizes footspace, allowing the feet to stand near the trucks, enhancing control and board feel, while incorporating radial drops and killer concave to lock onto your feet like bindings on a snowboard…almost. Rocker throughout the platform further locks you into the center of the deck and lowers the center of the deck to the ground, making this deck just as easy to push across town as many dropped decks on the market while still giving you the control of a topmount deck. Designed to be a rock-solid stiffy, giving you supreme control at big speeds and extreme grip through big slides!

The EQ started with a very basic concept of maximizing footspace over a topmount deck with extreme yet comfortable foot locking concave. The overall shape was obvious. Make wheel wells as small as possible and the board as big as possible within the given wheelbase. Maximize control by getting the feet as close to the trucks as possible, and provide no wasted space. With the combination of rocker and radial drops, the center of the deck sits a full inch lower than the truck mounts, making this deck sit just as low as an Ibach for pushing around town. The progressive radial concave starts out very mellow in the center of the deck and increases in intensity near the edges, creating a comfortable standing platform for front facing pushing and locking you in tight in sideways stance. The concave tops out at 9/16″ near the deck’s shoulders. The radial drops lift the center of the deck where the trucks mount, creating a shelf that keeps your feet from shifting. Bending and lifting the wood out of the center of the deck allows concave to be retained throughout the length of the standing platform. Many freeriders will find that they can simply spin in circles, toeside and heelside, on this deck without ever adjusting the feet. And that’s the idea.

Mekanik
The Mekanik is the little brother of the Ratmobile race deck. It is built off of the same progressive radial concave as the Ratmobile with the same quarter-inch rockered platform, but with an even wider range of wheelbase options, especially on the short end. The Mekanik will be the deck of choice for top mount riders who want to stick tight corners, freeriders who prefer shorter wheelbases, garage bombers, riders with smaller stances, and women downhillers. The slightly smaller width and more uniform shape from front to back make it easier to dig into the rails when switching from heelside to toeside slides, in regular and switch, and also benefits riders with smaller feet and setups with shorter width trucks when you really want to stick that corner. The highly adjustable platform allows you to put your feet directly over the trucks, providing maximum control in turns and when sliding.

The Mekanik is 35 inches long, sporting a gentle, comforting quarter-inch rocker throughout the deck. Concave is designed to be perfectly comfortable at speed while locking in the feet hard when sideways in freeride stance. Technically speaking, it’s a progressive radial concave, being very mild near the center with a tightening radius as it gets nearer to the edges. The deck is 9.5 inches wide up front and 9.25 at the first set of holes in the back, making the board feel very similar riding backwards as when regular. Rails on the Mekanik are razor-sharp and will provide ample grip when freeriding and drifting around corners. Massive wheel wells are large enough to provide clearance on most any setup and have been tested with 124mm up to 180mm trucks with equally awesome results. Wheelbases range from 22.25 up to 26.5 inches, making this board ideal for gripping corners and medium to high speeds, depending on your comfort level. Garage bombers will be especiallyĀ pleased with the Mekanik! Hey Miami, we were thinking of you guys!

Ratmobile
Someone smart once said, “Don’t mess up a good thing!” Well, for the 2013 Ratmobile, we took that to heart but added a few special tweaks to make our most popular speed board even more versatile for downhill and freeride skating. We’ve added a touch of width through the waist and replaced the original 2012 Ratmobile ‘notch’ with the new 2013 Ratmobile ‘gas pedal’. Pedal usage will vary by rider and style, but the one thing that will be noticeable to everyone is the increased torsional stiffness that the 2013 Ratmobile achieves over it’s predecessors. Our racers love the concave, the wheel wells are still huge, and there are still wheelbase options from 24.5 to 28 inches that will fit racers and free riders of all sizes for just about any downhill application, from sliding down your neighborhood hills to racing Teutonia against the fastest downhillers in the world.

The new gas pedals will add just a touch of a confidence boost when ripping predrifts around corners for those that like to hang their heels and toes off the edge of the board. If you loved the 2012 Ratmobile, updating your quiver with the 2013 model will be a seamless transition to upgrading your downhill and freeride potential.

Complex 42″Bustin ComplexThe pride of Bustin Boards, this board is the most versatile board on the market today. Its unique shape is meant to add performance to comfort. The centrally dispersed concave grips your feet, while the springy camber rebounds with just the right flex. Its long wheel base makes it feel like a much longer cruiser, but its innovative contours make it turn like a carving board. A great first board, the Complex carves like a dream but it stable at moderated speeds. If you looking for a board that can do anything and is just strait fun to ride, this is it. Note: To avoid wheelbite, we do not recommend using wheels larger than 70mm on the Complex.

William Royce Pro
Working hand in hand with Bustin Pro rider William Royce, we developed the perfect mold and shape attuned to his aggressive, skate-everything riding style. The Royce Pro is equipped with an aggressive, progressive radial concave with mild elliptical W, mellow wheel flares, large wheel wells, pleasure ribs, and a sick through-concave kicktail.

This board is ready to take on just about anything you could ever encounter on a skateboard. An extra short wheelbase option is thrown in as an ideal option for when Will takes on boarder-cross events. The concave is built to support many riding styles. Small stance riders will fit nicely between the trucks mounts and flares. Tight tuckers will find that rear foot right in the heart of a comfortable W-concave. Larger stance riders can comfortably place their feet in the 3-D or in the pocket between the 3-D concave and the tail. Movement through the platform of the deck is fluid, with no part of the deck screaming “Don’t put your foot here!” Yet, with a concave that is constantly changing through the length of the deck, it is very easy to find your place and know just where you are. Royce’s “Pleasure Ribs” are incorporated into the shape of this deck to provide additional locators for his feet and to increase the his leverage over the edge of the board during slides.

Ibach Series 37″ & 39″Bustin IbachThe classic dropped downhill board has been a staple of most skateboard companies’ lineups since it was first invented, and that includes us here at Bustin. Customers still rave about the Ibach. But that’s not enough for us. Our biggest critics are ourselves, and when the idea came to us about a new drop shape, we knew it was time to apply it to the Ibach. What we have now is a double dropped downhill deck that is completely unique. It’s speed stiff with a tub concave that inspires confidence in any situation, and the drop shape is both ergonomic for the most aggressive riding and inherently stiffer and stronger than any typically dropped deck. It also comes in two different sizes with two concaves designed relatively around larger and smaller feet. If you think we’re laying big claims, well, we are. And ultimately, it’s always going to come down to the rider’s abilities and preferences. But if you like drop decks, or even if you’re a top mount guy who is just looking to switch it up, this is as rock solid as it can be for what it isā€¦an ultra-low, aggressive deck that handles the fastest of hills, the longest of slides, and your everyday commute all in one setup.

TheĀ  Ibach is a sick do-it-all deck to take on your every day adventures. Its super low platform makes for a great pusher. The rock solid stiffness all the way through the deck and low ride gives more confidence at speed and will break out into slides easily. The concave locks in your feet and the drop shape provides excellent leverage points to help you stay on your board with more control. AND this deck comes in two sizes, so you smaller riders out there can get the same benefits from the concave and drop shape on the Ibach37 as larger riders do on the larger Ibach39. Top it all off with a skull in a winged space helmet graphic or the ability to customize your graphic here on the website andā€¦why are you still reading this when you could be skating the new 2013 Bustin Ibach?

BGDK
After over a year of design and prototyping, the Bustin BGDK is finally available to the public. This board went through eight different design concepts, two mold changes, and what seemed like months of tweaking to get the final board you see here today, and we wouldn’t be giving it to you if we didn’t think we had it perfected.

The BGDK is a perfect mix of all-around skate, freeride, and downhill mixed into one board. It’s designed for downhill riding and sliding, but the addition of a nose and tail make this board fun for any riding situation, whether you’re slashing through the urban terrain or bombing down a mountain. The concave stays aggressive from front to back, topping out at .66″ in-depth, with a gentle elliptical W concave that gradually becomes more prominent toward the center of the deck for finding your position in your tuck. Movement through the deck is fluid, and no part of the deck screams, “Don’t put your foot here!!!” The platform provides feedback with sweeping curves and changes in concave from tip to tail that help you find your perfect position. Gentle 3-D concave aids to help in foot placement and adds additional wheel clearance to the already large, CNC-routed wheel wells. The tails are large and in charge, providing tons of the leverage you need for doing real pop tricks, not just “longboard ollies.” The deck retains concave across the platform and into the tails to create a great pockets to lock into when doing surf-style slides off the back.

Boombox 42″ 8ply & 9plyBustin Boombox The Bustin Boombox and its cousin, the EQ, are the latest additions to the 2012 Bustin Boards lineup. The Boombox is designed to amplify your imagination into a riding experience that you’ve only dreamed of with a rock solid maple construction at a price to performance ratio that can’t be beat. The board maximizes footspace, allowing the feet to stand near the trucks and enhancing control during slides. Radial drops and a killer progressive radial concave lock in the feet like bindings on a snowboard, and kicktails give the deck some extreme freestyle versatility, allowing you to perform pop tricks on the hill and in the flats. Rocker throughout the deck lowers you to the ground, making this deck just as comfortable to push around as other dropped and drop-thru decks such as the Ibach and Maestro. Designed to be your swiss army knife longboard, this beast is meant for big speed, big slides and big air! With all the bends in this board, there is hardly a weak spot to be found, and for this reason, we chose to take a ply out of the Boombox from the EQ to lighten the deck for freestyle tricks. This gives the Boombox a small amount of flex, typically only felt when jumping in the middle of the deck, but enough to provide a little cushion when landing flatland tricks or early grabs off stair sets. We call the 9-ply EQ a downhill/freeride deck and the 8-ply Boombox a freeride/freestyle deck. Both are rock solid and will last you many moons providing no evil automotive spirits find their way on top of it.

Boombox Pro Series 6ply & 7plyBustin Boombox ProThe Boombox Pro is an adapted version of the Boombox designed to provide riders with an even longer lasting, more impact resistant freeride/freestyle deck. Two models were created for two different flex options. The 6-ply Boombox is light and flexy with only 6 plies of maple as a core, allowing the board to remain super trickable for riders focusing on lower speed freestyle maneuvers and light freeride. The 7-ply, on the other hand, is more ideal for freeride and downhill riders who also want the option to pull out freestyle maneuvers. Both decks will handle much more impact than the original wood version, though the cost reflects the additional time and materials that go into the decks. For riders who will be primarily doing freeriding with less flip-tricking, the original all-wood Boombox is still a beast and a favorite among the Bustin team. The Boombox started with the shape of the EQ, a topmount deck that aimed to maximize footspace and lock in feet with an extreme but comfortable concave. Much thought was placed into how and where the foot bends, and the shape of the concave reflects this. Bending and lifting the wood out of the center of the deck allows the concave to be retained through the edges of the foot platform, helping further lock in the rider when compared to traditionally dropped decks.Ā  With all the bends in this board, there is hardly a weak spot to be found. The deck is nearly indestructible when facing large drops, cars, and extended use, and with the addition of fiberglass, the corners of the deck will survive much more abuse. The fiberglass decks also have the benefit of being highly weatherproof.
