We are totally stoked to by be able to display the amazing talent of our very own grip tape pimps Nathan Custom Bishop and Petteri Soyrinki at Longboarder Labs launch of our street shortboard section of the shop.
Petteri “Symphony 73” Soyrinki, a self-taught grip tape artist from Finland, a father of four sons, and a fire alarm system specialist. He pimped his first grip tape in the eighties when he got his first skateboard. Five years ago – after a creative 20-year break and two divorces – Petteri found himself skateboarding again, doing what he loves, and he never skates without a board whose grip he’s pimped himself, and now you can see the results.
Welcome to the amazing hand-made grip tape art that has not been painted – even though you might think so at the first glance. Symphony meticulously puts together his mind-blowing, detailed art pieces using only a knife and grip tapes of different colors. He loves and gets inspiration from Jim and Jimbo Phillips art.
