Dixon Elementary School in Steveston has been holding an annual longboard rally for the past four years to raise money for charity. Organized by the student council, the Dixon Longboard Rally is held during school time and brings everyone out either to participate or cheer. This year saw an impressive 78 students registered with some of the faculty joining the event.
Bill Juhasz, principal of Dixon Elementary, contacted Longboarder Labs about sponsoring the event and we gladly agreed. The Lab’s traveled there to help with the event, along with shirts, stickers, a few box fulls of Concrete Wave Magazines, and prizes. Landyachtz was brought in through Longboarder Labs as a co-sponsor for prizes and was very generous to provide a set of 2014 trucks and wheels, bearings, t-shirts, and Tech Decks. What makes this event so great is that it gets everyone involved. The event is 100% student driven with support from parents, and faculty.
The whole event was the product of the entire school working together. Teachers, Students, and faculty had a role to play which proves that longboarding is not only accessible to everyone but is way for everyone to work together.
