The orange tariff machine south of the border has fired up, Canada is answering back, and suddenly buying an Onewheel has become slightly more complicated than simply deciding how much range, torque and trail-shredding ability you want.
We would much rather talk about carving pavement, floating Vancouver trails and avoiding pedestrians on the seawall. Unfortunately, tariffs may soon have a very real effect on what it costs to bring Onewheels into Canada.

What Is Happening?
The United States has imposed new 50% tariffs on approximately $20 billion worth of selected Canadian exports.
Canada has responded by announcing dollar-for-dollar counter-tariffs on selected American goods beginning September 8. The announced sectors include electronics, appliances, steel and other U.S.-made products.
The final product-level tariff list has not yet been released, so nobody should claim that a specific tariff rate on Onewheels is confirmed.
What we do know is that Future Motion states that every Onewheel is built in the United States, at its manufacturing facility in San Jose, California. That means Onewheels entering Canada could be exposed to substantially higher import costs if they are included in the new measures.
And when import costs rise, Canadian retail prices usually follow.
We would rather give our customers a fair warning now than quietly change the prices later.
